Ingredients

  • 2 large yellow onions
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour or cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Cooking spray (avocado, olive, or canola oil)

Instructions

  1. Slice onions into thin rings or strips using a mandoline or sharp knife.
  2. Soak sliced onions in cold water for 10 minutes, then pat dry thoroughly.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour (or cornstarch), panko, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  4. Toss onions in the mixture to coat evenly.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 350°F.
  6. Place onions in a single layer in the air fryer basket and lightly spray with oil.
  7. Cook for 8–10 minutes, shaking or flipping halfway through for even crisping.
  8. Remove when golden and crispy, and serve immediately or store as directed.
