Description

Ingredients

  • 1 box San Giorgio lasagna noodles (regular or oven-ready)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese (or cottage cheese)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg (optional, for cheese mix)
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. In a skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with egg (if using), Parmesan, basil, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. If using regular noodles: boil until al dente, drain, and set aside. If using oven-ready noodles, skip boiling.
  5. Assemble lasagna in a baking dish: spread sauce, layer noodles, spread ricotta mixture, add meat sauce, sprinkle mozzarella. Repeat layers, ending with sauce and mozzarella on top.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  7. Remove foil and bake an additional 20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use oven-ready noodles for a faster version. Add a pinch of nutmeg to the ricotta for extra depth. To make ahead, assemble and refrigerate or freeze before baking. For best results, let lasagna rest before serving.
