- 1 box San Giorgio lasagna noodles (regular or oven-ready)
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 cups ricotta cheese (or cottage cheese)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg (optional, for cheese mix)
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In a skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with egg (if using), Parmesan, basil, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- If using regular noodles: boil until al dente, drain, and set aside. If using oven-ready noodles, skip boiling.
- Assemble lasagna in a baking dish: spread sauce, layer noodles, spread ricotta mixture, add meat sauce, sprinkle mozzarella. Repeat layers, ending with sauce and mozzarella on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake an additional 20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Use oven-ready noodles for a faster version. Add a pinch of nutmeg to the ricotta for extra depth. To make ahead, assemble and refrigerate or freeze before baking. For best results, let lasagna rest before serving.
